Plateau State Governor , Caleb Mutfwang, on Tuesday signed the state’s N314.8 billion 2024 budget into law.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that this is barely one month after it was passed by the State House of Assembly
Mutfwang assented to the 2024 appropriation bill on Tuesday in his office at the Rayfield Government House in Jos, the state capital.
The ceremony was witnessed by top government functionaries including the Speaker, Gabriel Dewan; state chief Judge, Justice David Mann, Chief of Staff Government House, State Head of Service as well as members of the state executive council .
Speaking during the brief event Mutfwang said the budget would provide the framework for his administration to address the developmental needs of the state
Mutfwang said, “We met a state of affairs where critical sectors of Plateau existence were in tatters and years of neglect have have resulted in institutions and infrastructure rundown beyond what to manage. We are therefore determined that we will lay a new foundation and give our people a future and a hope.
“The implementation of this budget will start a new culture of maintenance , excellence and having Plateau committed to the path of progress and development.”
The governor appealed to the people to continue to support his administration saying this will spur his government to greater commitment to pursue the path of development to ensure that Plateau can be reconned with among the comity of states in Nigeria.
Our correspondent reports that the state assembly had in November raised the 2024 budget from the initial N295.4 billion to N314.8 billion and speedily passed the appropriation bill barely three days after it was presented to it by the governor
