What they didn’t tell you is the fact that they tried to kill Bob Marley. On December 3rd, 1976, 7 armed men raided his home in Kingston, Jamaica, just 2 days before he was to sing in the Smile Jamaica Concert aimed at promoting peace and quelling violence.
The seven hired assassins led by Lester Lloyd Coke, commonly known as Jim Brown, a notorious Jamaican drug lord shot Bob Marley on his chest and arm, and shot his beautiful wife, Rita Marley on her head along the driveway, while leaving two Bob Marley’s musical associates with bullet wound on their legs and torso.
By sheer luck, Bob Marley survived the attempted assassination.
Thorough investigation by Timothy White revealed in Marley’s Biography showed that the United States-led CIA was behind the attempted murder.
Now here is the defiant part of the Bob Marley courage even with his gun injury and pains from the gunshots, Bob Marley still went ahead to perform at the Smile Jamaica Concert on 5th December, 1976, two days after he was shot.
Those of us leading advocacy and pointing society to a better vision and leadership persuasion understand that sometimes the messenger and not the message become the target for evil elements.
In this we are confident that, at the end, good will overcome evil, and light will defeat darkness.
Death is only an exit to stop seeing stupid and pretentious people who are taking so much of public funds and doing very little in comparative terms.
Unfortunately, not many understand that all powers and positions are to improve lives and not to use either to ruin community or undermine every opportunity to transform people, places, projects, programs and posterity index. Like Sam Cooke once envisioned in his song, Change is gonna come knowing good will overcome evil.
