The South-West wing of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, under the leadership of Alhaji Suraj Owolabi, has commiserated with the Oyo State Government and the victims affected by the tragic explosion that rocked Ibadan on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
In a sober acknowledgment of the profound loss, the unfortunate explosion claimed the lives of three individuals and left over seventy people injured, while also causing extensive damage to property and valuables in the affected area.
Owolabi, the Southwest Chairman of APGA, conveyed the party’s deep distress and sorrow in a statement, describing the incident as both distressing and unfortunate. The party stands in solidarity with the affected families during this challenging time and expresses unwavering support for the ongoing recovery efforts.
The APGA Southwest acknowledged the immediate response from Gov. Seyi Makinde, emergency services, local authorities, and the community, applauding their resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the relevant authorities to investigate the root cause of the explosion, ensuring accountability for those responsible.
The party emphasised the need for increased safety measures and preventative actions to avoid future incidents of this nature. APGA Southwest pledged to work closely with the Oyo State government and other stakeholders to implement measures that prioritize the safety and well-being of citizens.
