The Oyo State police command on Tuesday night confirmed the explosion as true, adding that the cause could not be authenticated.
According to a press statement issued on the command’s X handle, it occured around 7:44pm.
Recall that PERISCOPE NIGERIA had reported how the explosion rocked most parts of the metropolis including Ace mall, which caused it collapse.
Also, based on eyewitness account most parts of the metropolis including University of Ibadan, College Hospital and environs were said to have felt the impact as windows were said to have been shattered following the vibration.
The command wrote, “Explosion around Dejo Oyelese Street Bodija Ibadan around 7:44pm today Tuesday 17/01/2024.
The cause of the explosion is unknown.
“Number of Dead and Injured yet unknown as search continues.
Ample deployment on ground
