Following Governor Agbu Kefas’, efforts to bring development to Taraba State, a contract was awarded for the renovation and revamping of the Trade Fair Complex Jalingo.
Contractors were already mobilised and on site when the Federal High Court issued an order for the project to be halted with the claim that the said property belongs to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

In a case filed against the State Government, the Trade Fair Complex Jalingo has been sold to them by the past administration of governor Darius Dickson Ishaku to build a Federal Secretariat.
All documents presented showed a duly signed agreement between Taraba State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to prove the validity.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry Mr George Peter, however, denied knowledge of such transaction as it was not contained in the handover documents presented to the present administration.
In his statement he said, “selling of the Trade Fair Complex is illegal and the state government will try its possible best to recover it’s landed property.”
He also stated the fact that the state government has already allocated a land for the building of the Federal Secretariat within the state capital.
