The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly Yakubu Danladi-Salihu says the N296.4billion 2024 state appropriation bill would be passed into law by lawmakers soon after the ongoing thorough legislative scrutiny.
Yakubu dropped this hint while speaking at a special prayer organised in Ilorin to seek divine guidance and blessings for the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday, December 19, 2023 laid before the parliament a N296.4bn fiscal plan for year 2024, with the capital expenditure guzzling a whopping 61 per cent of the proposed spending and 39 per cent recurrent estimate bills.
He said, “We are at the committee level and very soon the budget will be passed. In terms of the implementation, as soon as the budget is passed there are lots of things that would benefit kwarans across the twenty-four constituencies that would move the state forward.”
He gave an assurance that the budget would positively impact the lives of Kwarans irrespective of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation.
The Speaker also expressed gratitude to God for granting Governor AbdulRazaq a successful first term in office and also commended kwarans for supporting the people’s Governor.
“We thank God Almighty for giving our leader, the Governor of the state and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq a successful and peaceful first term in office and also for giving him another mandate for a second term in office.
“We also thank the good people of Kwara State for voting for Governor AbdulRazaq for a second term and supporting his administration to turn around the state for the better. We look onto God for a more peaceful and successful tenure of Governor AbdulRazaq in the second term in office”, the Speaker added.
Aligning with the speaker, Assembly Majority Leader, Hon Oba-Magaji Abdulkadir hailed the governor for scintillating performance in his first term of office.
Abdulkadir added that the state’s 2024 appropriation bill when passed into law would impact positively on people’s lives.
He said, “the appropriation bill brought by the governor to the House of Assembly has 61 percent capital projects, which means the people will feel the impact of the administration with new projects.”
The special prayer which was organized by Alhaji Baba-AbdulRauf AbdulRazaq, a brother to the Governor was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ojo Oyebode and other lawmakers in the Tenth and Ninth Assemblies as well as Religions, Traditional and community leaders, and APC leadership among others.
