President Bola Tinubu has expressed his dedication to ensuring Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in food production and transforming the country into a net exporter of agricultural products by implementing a strategy he referred to as “vigorous mechanisation.”
During a meeting on Sunday with a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, headed by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu expressed his belief that Nigeria can enhance its food exports by implementing robust mechanisation. This ambitious plan aims to leverage advanced technologies to increase agricultural productivity.
On Agriculture, he said, “Nigeria will become a net exporter of food. We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanisation. We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding.”
He also expressed intentions to enhance agricultural efficiency through a range of strategies, such as increasing the amount of land available for farming, offering farmers access to loans with low interest rates, and making substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure.
In order to progress the nation’s interests and foster unity among the people, Tinubu emphasised the importance of harmonious collaboration between political and spiritual leaders.
“We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage,” he added.
Sheikh Mahe Niass, the Khalifa of Tijaniyya, expressed his admiration for Tinubu’s resolute dedication to the peace, advancement, and stability of Nigeria. Niass conveyed his belief in the President’s leadership and transmitted the unwavering backing and prayers from Global Tijaniyya Movement members to the Nigerian leader.
During their visit, the delegation fervently prayed for the advancement, harmony, and prosperity of the nation, and beseeched almighty God to bestow President Tinubu with wisdom, resilience, and triumph.
