Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas on Wednesday inaugurated the Taraba State Students Identification System for public primary and secondary schools in the state.

Kefas, who performed the inauguration at the remodeled Government Primary School Nyamusala, Jalingo, said the project sought to capture the accurate number of schools and pupils in the entire state.
The governor, who described the event as significant, said the identification project was the key to his administration’s free education policy, which he noted, had come to stay.
“Every Child in Taraba is entitled to free education and parents must take the responsibility of making them available for the good of the society.
“I urge the people of the state to key into the initiative in order to secure a better future for our children and the state,” he said.
Kefas, who said the government was so pleased to take off the financial burden of education from parents, called on everyone to feel free to always suggest best ways to improve on the model.
Earlier in her comments, Dr Augustina Godwin, the state Commissioner for Education said the governor has matched words with actions by ensuring that the free education became a reality.
She commended the level of architectural work that went into remodeling the schools for a conducive teaching and learning environment for teachers and pupils.
Our Correspondent reports that highlight of the event was a demonstration of the data capturing by the governor, who registered some students along side the TESIS field team, led by the Managing Director ZIP Warehousing Limited, Mrs Uchenna Eshareturi.
