The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Kashere, Professor Umar Pate, has expressed commitment to prioritise the welfare of students especially in the maintenance of medical healthcare, safety in hostels as well as their academic engagements.

Speaking on Tuesday at the matriculation exercise of 3,271 students admitted for 2023/2024 academic session, Pate urged them to in turn be security conscious and law abiding.
The VC lauded the Gombe State Government, Senator representing Gombe Central Danjuma Goje, Akko, Pindiga emirate councils, Billiri, Kaltungo maidoms for their efforts in contributing to the progress of the institution.
He said, “It is also pertinent to draw your attention to the prevailing security situation in the country. While we shall continue to thank the Almighty, our host government and the security agencies for the serenity and peace in Gombe State, we shall not fail to remind you to be security conscious and be vigilant at all times and in all circumstances. Security is everybody’s business. Help us to protect and secure our campus and community.
“At this point, let me reassure you of our commitment to continue to promote your welfare and rights in your Halls of Residence and academic engagements. We shall ensure that your hostels, clinic and every other aspect of welfare are properly maintained for your comfort. This year, three additional hostels will be commissioned to accommodate additional students. We shall also upgrade the existing sporting facilities on campus to ensure that your recreational requirements are catered for.”

Speaking further Pate commended the staff for their overwhelming efforts towards providing students global tertiary education standard, “Finally, let me thank our teaching and non-teaching staff for their commitment and team spirit in promoting the ideals of teaching and research in the University. Specifically, I must thank the excellent work of the Registry Department in liaison with JAMB for neatly and promptly handling the 2023/24 admission session. What we are celebrating today is the outcome of their hard work, he added.
He also urged the freshers to show the needed loyalty by respecting laid down rules, stressing that malpractice, cybercrimes, cultism and others capable of tarnishing the institution’s image would not be tolerated, “Finally, I urge our fresh and returning students to respect all staff of the University and abide by the code of conduct prescribed by the Students Affairs Division. If you do so, I can be sure to guarantee your safe and comfortable stay in FUK. I assure you that through the right channels of communication, you can resolve any problem on campus,” Pate said.
