Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated an 11-man white paper drafting Committee for the implementation of Gombe City Master Plan and Assessment of Grazing, Forests, Game Reserves and Cattle Routes across the state.

Inaugurating the Committee on behalf of the Governor, the Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, recalled that the reports of the two Committees set up by the government were received recently and government saw the need for composition of the white paper committee to guide on the implementation of the their recommendations.
He disclosed that he was deeply concerned about the arbitrary abuse or total disregard for town planning guidelines and procedures making provision of basic social amenities difficult.
The governor also added that in many cases government ends up spending huge amount of money on compensation of property affected by township roads describing it as unacceptable
He, therefore, tasked the committee to work assiduously to come up with an implementable roadmap that would cover short, medium and long-term timelines.
Commenting on the Assessment of Grazing, Forest, Games Reserves and Cattle Routes, the governor explained that it is by going to the basics that the herder/farmer conflicts which has over the years become serious source of concern can be effectively addressed.
In a response, the White Paper drafting Committee Chairman and former Head of Civil Service in the State, Mallam Aliyu Kamara, appreciated Governor Yahaya for finding them worthy to undertake the task in the interest of the State and assured working round the clock to deliver on the terms of reference.
The Committee inauguration had the Head of Civil Service Alhaji Abdullahi Kassimu Ahmed, Commissioners of Works, Housing and Transport, Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Permanent Secretaries, PPS to the Governor and Directors in the Office of the SSG in attendance.
The Committee is to submit it’s report to the State Government within 4 weeks from today.
