President Bola Tinubu has instructed for the prompt payment of the unpaid electricity bill owed the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.
The President’s instruction was issued after the State House Management and AEDC resolved their account discrepancies.
According to a letter dated February 14, 2024, from the management of AEDC to the State House Permanent Secretary, the outstanding bill owed by the State House is N342,352,217.46, which contrasts with the initial claim of N923 million debt in paid advertorials in newspapers by AEDC.
After settling the matter to the contentment of all involved, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has guaranteed that the outstanding amount will be settled with AEDC by the week’s end.
In alignment with the actions taken by the Presidency, the Chief of Staff has also emphasized the importance for other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to review their financial records with AEDC and settle any outstanding electricity bills promptly.
