Under the umbrella of Taraba State Women in Action, they expressed their position during an unscheduled visit to the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hon. Merry Sijen, at her office in Jalingo on Tuesday.

Mrs Titi Adamu, the State Coordinator, stated that the visit aimed to express their appreciation to Governor Kefas for including women in governance and to reassure him of their unwavering support, as well as to urge him to do more.

She described the appointment of seven women as Commissioners by the present administration as unprecedented in the history of the state.

She expressed optimism that the governor would increase the number of women in the appointment of Advisers and commended him for his developmental projects, including the free education scheme under the “Moving Forward Agenda.”

Adamu also stated that the women were a few out of many selected from the various local government areas of the State who visited the Commissioner, Hon. Merry Sijen, to inform her of their readiness to partner with the ministry to achieve Governor Kefas’s Moving Forward Agenda.

Hon. Merry Sijen, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, expressed her joy at the visit and displayed an act of shock at seeing what she called an “unexpected crowd of women.”

She announced that the present administration has numerous empowerment programs for women, including sponsoring adult education, revealing that an empowerment program would soon commence, starting with five local government areas for women in the State.

She thanked the leadership of Women in Action and its members for the visit and assured them of the ministry’s readiness to partner with them in actualizing Governor Agbu Kefas’s Moving Forward Agenda of transforming the state and improving the livelihood of its citizens.

In her contribution to the event, Hon. Aishat Barde, the Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, who met the gathering while at the ministry to see her colleague, turned into tears as she saw the mammoth crowd and assured the women of their resolve to assist them under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas.

Barde also described the appointment of seven women by the governor as commendable and urged them to continue praying and supporting the present administration to succeed.
