Dear AIT,
I am pleased to provide you with an update on the recent developments at the Soilless Farm Lab, where our team has been actively engaged in enriching activities focused on expanding our knowledge in soilless farming techniques.

In the past few weeks, we have achieved significant milestones in our greenhouse construction endeavours. The completion of the four greenhouses brings the total number to 80, serving all 20 groups effectively. We have meticulously prepared the greenhouses by filling them with grow bags containing rice hulls, a sustainable alternative to traditional soil. The infrastructure has been connected with an overhead tank through a piping system, and drip tape has been installed on the grow bags to ensure efficient irrigation.

Furthermore, we have taken proactive measures to enhance crop health and productivity by applying Flubendiamide and Thiacloprid in two of the greenhouses. As part of the agronomic process, we have fortified the substrates by following a specific mixing regimen: 200ML to 200L for drums and 20ML to 20L for buckets. A solution of 60L water mixed with microbial complexes was used to sterilize and fortify the substrates in each greenhouse.

We are excited to announce that the transplanting of tomatoes, specifically the Jarrah RZ F1 variety, in the fortified greenhouses was done on Monday, 26th February 2024. These strategic efforts align with our mission to implement innovative techniques and achieve sustainable crop production in our soilless farming practices.

Following the transplant of the two greenhouses for each group, we have been consistently watering the tomatoes using a mixture composed of the following:
- Nutrients: NPK – 790g
- Magnesium – 625g
- Calcium – 1000g dissolved in 2000L of water.

Additionally, the management has decided to extend the training program’s end date from the 22nd to the 26th of March 2024. We are eagerly awaiting instructions regarding the transport logistics. We are looking forward to incorporating the knowledge gained from this training into our future practices.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this training, and we look forward to showcasing the progress of our project.
Best regards,
Team Lead
