Tumu Community of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, has filed a lawsuit against Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, Emir of Pindiga Ahmed Seyoji-Mohammed, for allegedly stopping the Senator representing Gombe central, Danjuma Goje, from reconstructing the central mosque of the area.
Others joined as defendants in the suit include the state’s Attorney-General Zubairu Umar, and the Commissioner for local government and Community Development, Abdulkadir Muhammed.
The group under the aegis of Tumu Concerned Residents filed the suit on behalf of the community to express their grievances over stopping the reconstruction of the Central Mosque.
Residents of the community who were aggrieved by the denial of the mosque’s reconstruction project include Mohammed Yero, Bello Ali-Tumu, and Danjuma Mukhtari, filed the suit on behalf of the community, requesting the Court to restrain the defendants from depriving the community of the development initiative.
Recall that an aide to Senator Goje, Adamu Mohammed-Manga, has recently made the allegation while addressing the residents of the community.
Our correspondent reports that there have been alleged cold war existing between Yahaya and Goje, from pre and post 2023 general election.
According to Mohammed-Manga, the Emir allegedly stopped the reconstruction of the Central Mosque located near his palace and that of Tumu over fear of the state governor, Yahaya.
Based on a viral video clip obtained by our correspondent, Mohammed-Manga said, “The Emir has told me unequivocally that if he allows the project to be done by him, Governor Inuwa will dethrone him.”
