Representative Dennis Idahosa, has sent a letter to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, requesting that only his name be considered as the Edo All Progressives Congress candidate from the primary election that he won.
In a letter dated March 4th, 2024, written by Wole Olanipekun, and marked WOC/ABJ/VOL.01/074/2024, addressed to INEC Chairman Professor Mahmud Yakubu, Idahosa mentioned that a lawsuit (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/274/2024) has been filed by him against Sen. Monday Okpebholo, the APC, and INEC.
According to him, In the suit, he asserted his claim to the party’s candidacy and advised INEC to acknowledge the legal action.
In his lawsuit, Idahosa asserted that he emerged victorious in the election conducted by INEC on February 17, 2024, and was officially declared the winner. He pointed out that the supplementary election mandated by the party leadership lacked justification, as no explanation was provided for their directive.
He further claimed that the election held on February 20th was not a separate event, but rather an extension of the February 17th proceedings. Therefore, he maintained that the outcomes of the February 17th exercise should not be disregarded.
