Abubakar Sani, an indigene of Niger State has allegedly killed his elder brother Kabiru Sani over a property-related argument.
Both siblings who hail from Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State were residents of Gawu Babangida area of Gurara Local Government Area.
The incident happened on Sunday when the suspect, Abubkar Sani was said to have hit his elder brother with a big stick over the misunderstanding over ownership of a property.
According to sources, the suspect had been threatening members of his family before the argument ensued with his elder brother.
When our correspondent contacted the Police spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun on phone, he explained that he was engaged but later sent an SMS in which he said the suspect was arrested while the case was still under investigation.
“On 24/3/2024 at about 1145hrs, Police operatives attached to Gawu-Babangida Div arrested one Abubakar Sani 30yrs of Gawu-Babangida area, Gurara LGA.
“The suspect was arrested for having engaged in a fight with his brother Kabir Sani 34yrs over issues of property, and during the fight, he allegedly hit the brother with a stick on the head.
“The victim became unconscious and he was rushed to FMC, Gawu where he was confirmed dead. Preliminary investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be transferred to SCID for further investigation and diligent prosecution,” he stated.
