….restricts movement with 8am to 10am
The Gombe State Government has declared last Saturday of the month as environmental sanitation across its 11 Local Government Areas.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the statewide monthly sanitation exercise was declared in line with Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s attempt to ensure hygiene across communities in order to mitigate communicable diseases.
Disclosing this in a statement obtained by our correspondent, Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources Mohammed Fawu, said the exercise would be observed between 8am to 10am.
Fawu said, “In line with this administration’s resolve to ensure provision of sustainable and healthy environment for human habitation, His Excellency Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Governor of Gombe State, has approved the conduct of monthly general environmental sanitation exercise in the state to be observed by the general public on the last Saturday of every month. The exercise is to be conducted from 8:00 am-10:00am.”
While urging for the needed cooperation from relevant stakeholders, Fawu stated that there would restriction of movement during the specified two hours.
“Based on the above, there will be restriction of movements during the period except those on essential services.Furthermore, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies and the general public are hereby directed to comply strictly with the directive as team of officials from the Ministry of Water, Environment and Forest Resources as well as the Gombe State Environmental Sanitation and Protection Agency will monitor strict compliance with the directive, please,” Fawu added.
