……Gombe Commissioner, others attend
The Gombe State Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Saidu-Fawu, has attended a two-day workshop for stakeholders in the Water Sanitation and Hygiene sector.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the workshop was organised by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund.


According to a press statement signed by Information Officer of the ministry, Amos Pononyamba-Fabulous, the event which took place at Rockview Hotel Royale Abuja, had state Commissioners for Water Resources, Heads of Agencies in the Wash sector, Non-Governmental Organisations as participants.
Saidu-Fawu was represented by the Director Water Resources, Mr Williams Abba.


The statement partly read, “With a singular dedication to addressing consistent and premature failures of water,sanitation and hygiene infrastructures in households, institutions and the poor level of service by services across the country.
“The theme for the workshop centred on ‘Development of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector-wide sustainability checks action plan and sustainability compact‘.
“Stakeholders were also admonished to develop and validate an action plan to monitor the progress of the sustainability actions as encapsulated in the 2022 SWSC report and also to raise awareness that will strengthen and reinforce the accountability links between policy makers, service providers and the people that use WASH services.”
The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Utsev, was quoted in the statement to have wished participants happy deliberation.
Utsev urged participants for a robust implementation that will enhance service delivery in the WASH sector by involving all relevant stakeholders.
