Gombe State House of Assembly on the 5th March passed into law the 2024 budget estimate bill for the 11 Local Government Areas of the state with the total sum of N66, 785, 201,992.26 billion.
Periscope Nigeria reports that N65,325,296,248 billion was initially estimated by the 11 LGAs.
The passage was sequel to the adoption of the report of house committee on appropriation which was presented on the floor of the house on Tuesday by the committee’s chairman Ali Baba Manu.
In the report, the committee observed a slight increase in the internally generated revenue of the local government councils while recommending the technical training of the staff on budget process and procedures.
On the issue of Corporate Social Responsibility and low tax being paid by Ashaka Cement PLC which was raised by the Secretary of Funakaye Local Government Area, during budget defence, the appropriation committee recommended to the affected area to write to the house on the need to review the CSR between the organisation and Funakaye community and the annual tenement rent.
After deliberation and clause by clause consideration of the budget estimate, the house anonymously adopted and approved the report and subsequently passed the Bill into law.
