The Permanent Secretary, Office of Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Mrs Larai Maigari, has been conferred a chieftaincy title of Linzamiya by Mai Tula, Dr Abubakar Buba Atare,II.
In the statement made available to Journalists, during the weekend, in Gombe, said the conferment of the title to Maigari was based on the recognition of her contributions to the chiefdom and people of Gombe State.
According to the statement, the title of “Linzamiya” which is first ever to be conferred by the Mai signifies the importance the chiefdom attaches to the sacrifices, resilience and support, Maigari gives to the Palace and Tula Chiefdom.
In the letter of conferment issued and signed on behalf of the Mai, by the Secretary Tula Traditional Council , Yaro Yakulma said ” in recognition of the good role you have been playing in bringing development and unity in Tula Chiefdom, Gombe State and the nation at large, we employ you to hold this important title of Tula in accordance with its meaning, functions and significance.”
While presenting the royal message to the recipient in her office, the delegates remarked that His Royal Highness has after due consultations found Mrs Larai Maigari worthy of the title by showing unwavering commitment to the course of humanity and development of the land of Tula.
The statement added, ” I am directed to inform you that His Royal Highness, the Mai Tula, Dr. Abubakar Buba Atare-II has conferred on you the title of ” Linzamiyar Tula.
” You have shown uncommon zeal and penchant for the progress of Tula and Nigeria that is why you have been chosen to be honoured. The title of “Linzamiya” ( directly translated as bridle of Tula,referring to instrument used in controlling Horses) is to install you as moral control over the land of Tula. To help in checkmating whatever is not morally upright and to install order in the land.
” While the title is to appreciate your contributions and sacrifices to the land, it is also to bestow on you higher responsibilities for you to do more to the land.”
In her response, the new Linzamiya of Tula, Maigari, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the Paramount Ruler for the honour bestowed on her.
She pledged to justify the confidence reposed in her, to redouble efforts in serving the people of Tula with even greater devotion and commitment, promising to uphold the values and traditions associated with the esteemed title.
She commended the initiative of the Mai Tula for identifying the contributions of his subjects towards enriching the fabric of society through selfless commitments.
Also, the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, used the medium to commend the Atare, for identifying the contributions made by his Permanent Secretary and rewarding her accordingly.
