…..project to gulp additional N500 million

The Multi-million Naira Walter Miller College of Nursing and Midwifery, Kaltungo, Gombe is to be commissioned by the Primate of All Nigeria, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, in November, 2024, adding that it will subsequently commence academic session.

Conveying this to PERISCOPE NIGERIA on tuesday in Gombe, the Bishop of Diocese of Gombe, Rt.Rev. Cletus Ajigben Tambari, said the project needed over additional ₦500 million to be completed.
He disclosed that the initiative will complement government’s effort in providing job opportunities, providing trained human resources and development to the people of North-East and Nigerians.
The Bishop added that front-line politicians, Archbishops, Bishops, Clergymen, Governors, Senators, Members of House of Representatives, Business -class, technocrats, religious and traditional leaders across the country, youths, various spirited organisations, women and the general public were invited to witness the take off of the College which was the first of its kind in the entire North-East of Nigeria.

He said, “It has great prospects for the populace who are seeking admission into the Nursing and Midwifery colleges considering the fact that all the government colleges cannot admit all the prospective students that applied for admission yearly.
“It was based on this that led the then Bishop now Primate to begin this noble project, a gateway to transformational development of human and capital resources in the region.”

While giving the background to the project, Tambari said, “Before his election to the Primacy, Most Rev. Dr. Henry C.Ndukuba had gone to the large extent in building some of the structures needed in the institution and had some of them commissioned like the administrative building, the Principal’s house, some of the classroom blocks and one of the hostels as well.”
The Bishop who does not want the names of dignitaries to be in print said that the Diocese Organising Committee has gone far in the assignment by reaching out to notable Nigerians to attend the fund raising ceremony for the completion of the College and 25th Anniversary of the Diocese of Gombe as well as the take off of the College respectively.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the College was conceived about 20 years ago.
It contains administrative block, two modern students hostels block, Principal’s lodge, school clinic, lecture halls, lecture rooms, Chaplain’s lodge, College chapel, while fencing and the main security entrance gates were adequately taken care of hence, providing conducive academic environment of note while stand-by generator, and solar energy as well as potable water supply were added advantages of Walter Miller College of Nursing and Midwifery Kaltungo in Gombe State.
