The human rights liberty access and peace defenders, has condemned popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, while lauding the trial judge for his prosecution, Huride noted that Bobrisky has legalised gay business in the country.
The group described Bobrisky as ‘the most celebrated gay in Nigeria’.
Periscope Nigeria reports that Bobrisky was jailed for six months for abusing naira in a case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
In a press statement issued by Anthony Asakitikpi, the South-South acting chairman of HURIDE, said “Bobrisky is not just facing the naira abuse charge, but also he/she has met is waterloo.”
The statement partly read, “It would be recall that Bobrisky single handedly legalised, advertised and socialised gay businesses to trend in the country to the detriment of the nation but yet the government and all kept mute and even celebrated and patronised him/her as a gay star, before nature relegated him/ her with naira abuse challenge, then other issues followed suits.
“One questions Nigerians need to answer is that, is Bobrisky a role model or a national disgrace?
“As a man he can’t be a reliable father and as a woman she can’t make a God fearing home.”
While calling on the government to use him/her to serve as a deterrent to youths,
“For other youths to copy and learn good morals. Bobrisky has polluted and corrupted many young Nigeria youths via his/her social negative life style,” the group said.
While commending the trial judge, Huride urged the police and other relevant security agencies to go after other crossdressers and prosecute them.
“Finally, we call on Bobrisky to have a rethink and consider his/her future old age when all the youthful vanity will
Befall him/her. A stitch in time saves nine, Huride added.

I am very happy that the trial judge did the right thing. Like it or not, this is not our culture in Nigeria. This should teach others some lesson.
