The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, alongside Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has performed the groundbreaking for the construction of 250 housing units under the Renewed Hope Housing project of the present administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The ceremony took place at the Renewed Hope Estate located close to the International Conference Centre along Gombe- Bauchi road on Saturday.
The project which will gulf 4.2billion naira has a completion period of six months.
Addressing newsmen, the Minister said the housing project is one of the Renewed Hope Mission of President Tinubu to provide about 100, 000 affordable houses across the country for the populace which will be auction for purchase either through direct payment, installment or mortgage.
He added that the 250 housing unit would have one, two and three bedrooms flats in order to carter for all family size, calling on the contractors to deliver quality jobs within the stipulated timeframe.
Dangiwa stated the project would further create business and employment opportunities for suppliers of building materials, traders, bricklayers, masons, plumbers among others.
While applauding President Tinubu for the laudable initiative aimed at addressing housing deficits in the country, Governor Yahaya appreciated the selection of Gombe state to benefit from the housing project, adding that his administration has embarked on a similar project which is at completion stage in order to complement federal government effort in providing affordable houses for the people especially the downtrodden.
He urged the people of the state to see the project as part of government effort to address issues confronting the nation which housing is part of it while calling on them to key into the agenda of the president and the All Progressives Congress.
The event was witnessed by many dignitaries which include the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung, Deputy Governor of the state Manasseh Daniel Jatau, speaker of the state House of Assembly Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo, royal fathers among others.
Immediately after the ground breaking ceremony, governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya led the Minister and other top government functionaries to flag off road construction in Tumfure community under Akko local government area of the state.
