Mr olubunmi Abodunde, who allegedly killed his wife, Taiwo, using a skateboard has been jailed in the United Kingdom.
Our correspondent reports that Abodunde, blamed his loss of control on medication.
48-year-old Abodunde, who lives in Exning road, in New Market, Suffolk was accused of murdering his wife on 28 November 2023.
He admitted to killing his wife,who suffered ‘catastrophic brain injuries’.
According to the court, the couple had a domestic incident and Mr Abodunde was arrested.
He was ordered not to make contact with his spouse, which was one of the bail conditions.
The next morning, Mr Abodunde travelled home to get a mobile phone at about 09:00BST.
Mrs Abodunde who was a Healthcare Assistant and also a mother of three, had worked overnight was on her way home.
Stephen Spence, the prosecutor told the court about the wife’s shift pattern, which the husband was aware of.
The court was told two officers attended the property to speak with the wife about the previous domestic incident.
The officers knocked repeatedly but got no response,Mr. Spence says. between 40 and 50 “thuds” had been heard,which it was believed to be Abodunde attacking his wife, before the officers were given the clearance by senior police officials to enter the property at 09:45 the body of Mrs.Abodunde with her skull smashed in, was found lifeless on the floor.
Nneka Akudolu, defending Mr Abodunde, said it was the medication her client was taking at the time of the murder.
She said this medication led him to completely lose control with tragic and lifelong consequences for those he loved.
In his remarks, Judge levett described Mrs Abodunde’s killing as ruthless, violent, savage and heartless.
The husband,who told the officers that the wife tried to beat him, but no evidence was found.
The judge said there was no self-defence at all on Mr Abodunde’s part, and he had “no remorse other than sob from the dock.”
