On Friday, President Bola Tinubu received a visit from the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers and the Nigerian Automotive Manufacturers Association, led by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Ms. Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The group, who was welcomed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Femi Gbajabiamila, expressed gratitude to the host for making time to meet with them and affirmed their dedication to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Delegation included the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), delegates from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), along with Executive Directors from Stallion Group, Toyota/CEAO, and NISSAN.
According to the representative of one association, the visit aimed to update President Tinubu on the progress towards initiating the local production of vehicles and spare parts in Nigeria. They informed the President’s Chief of Staff that a legislative proposal to support the automotive sector was in the process of being developed and reviewed by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
The President’s Chief of Staff expressed gratitude to the delegation and reiterated the President’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s industrial growth through various policies currently in effect.
He pledged to aid in expediting the approval of the legislative bill. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that domestically-produced vehicles are of top-notch quality, durable, and align with the Federal Government’s initiatives to rejuvenate the industry.
