The presentation of the scholarships took place at the conference Hall of Fwanya Plaza, ATC Jalingo, the state capital.

The Executive Director of the organisation, Mrs Prisca Essene Joel, presented the scholarships.

She mentioned that the gesture was in line with the aim of the organization, which is to empower women and youth with skills acquisition and educate them on issues that affect them.

The beneficiaries were carefully selected after interviews by the Board of Trustees of the organisation.

Joel explained that three females and three males were selected for both Information Communication Technology (ICT) and fashion design training to be carried out by its major partner, Fwanya Corporate Commission.

Additionally, she disclosed that five widows were also selected and awarded grants to boost their businesses and hopefully become employers of labor.

The organization has put in place measures to monitor the beneficiaries to ensure that they use the grant for the intended purpose.

Furthermore, Joel promised to advance the training in other areas, such as shoe-making and cream-making among others.

She also mentioned the organization’s plan to feed less privileged people once a month.

She called on well-to-do individuals to be aware of humanity by helping one another and urged the Taraba State government to partner with the organization, as its activity is one of the seven points agenda of Governor Agbu Kefas.

During interviews, some of the beneficiaries of the ICT training, Selina Danladi and Muhammad Sanusi Tukur, expressed joy and described the gesture as the first of its kind in their lives.

They urged the public and the government to support the organisation to enable them to sponsor more youth.

They also expressed their commitment to learning and promised to emulate the Executive Director in the future.

One of the widows who benefited from the grants, Usaina Dankano, expressed gratitude for the gesture, which she said would go a long way in boosting their small businesses.

She prayed for blessings for Mrs. Joel and the organisation.

High points of the event were the official inauguration of the Executives of WAYOMTI and its Board of Trustees.
