The Gombe State Ministry of Agriculture has commended the North-East Development commission, Gombe office, for its tireless efforts in improving quality of living of citizens in the state.
The state commissioner Ministry of Agriculture Dr Barnabas Danmalle, made the commendation while receiving the agricultural implements donated by the NEDC on behalf of the Gombe state government to boost agricultural farming in the state.
According to the commissioner, his ministry recognises the positive impact it will have on farmers and the agricultural community in the state.
He said, “the commission’s donation of farm implements to the state government exemplifies their commitment to supporting key sectors and fostering sustainable development in the state, and the gesture is a testament to the important role that philanthropic government’s agencies will enhanced agricultural productivity and promoting food security in various local communities in the state.”
He added that the donation of farm implements comes at a crucial time when farmers are facing various challenges, including fluctuating farming conditions as well as providing food security and is seen in addressing these challenges and helping farmers to overcome obstacles in their agricultural activities.
Speaking shortly after handing over the farm implements, the acting state Coordinator of the North East Development commission NEDC Gombe state Alhaji Rufa’i Manu, explained that the commission’s support for the agricultural sector highlights their commitment to promoting sustainable development and economic growth in the state.
He therefore said that the NEDC will continue to partner with the state ministry of agriculture, in supporting local farmers and empowering them to contribute to food security and economic stability.
Items donated by the NEDC include six units of rice mill, two units of rice polisher, two units of oil press machines.
Others are, fifteen units of walking tractor, twenty-five units of trailer, fifteen units of rotary tiller, and four of white and wheat planter among others.
