The North-East Development Commission is set to construct a state-of-the-art complex in General Hospital Billiri, Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that NEDC aims to enhance healthcare facilities and services for the people of Billiri, as it will mark significant milestone in the commission’s commitment to improving public health sector in the state.
According to the acting state Coordinator of the Commission, Alhaji Rufa’i Manu, the newly proposed complex will feature modern amenities and advanced medical equipment to provide comprehensive care and treatment to patients in need.
He said, “the commission is focused on increasing capacity and enhancing healthcare delivery, the project is set to elevate the standard of healthcare services within the General Hospital and to meet the growing demands of the population.”
Alhaji Rufa’i further stated that, the construction of the complex is expected to commence instantly, with a projected completion date of a year.
The state acting Coordinator added that, “the facility will house state-of-the-art medical equipment, specialised theatre room, antenatal and postnatal wards, dispensary, and comprehensive healthcare services to cater for a wide range of medical needs.”
Speaking at the event, the Gombe State Commissioner for Health Dr Habu Dahiru, said, the state government’s partnership with the NEDC to build the complex in the General Hospital, shows healthcare looks promising, with a shared vision of providing top-quality medical services to all residents, prioritising the well-being of citizens of the state.
Habu pledged the government’s support for the project from the people of the area, emphasising that the state government under the able leadership of Governor Muhammad Yahaya’s-led administration is committed to improving access to quality healthcare for all residents not only Billiri local government but the entire state.
Earlier, the Mai Tangale Alhaji Sunusi Maiyamba, welcomed the new development of the partnership, expressing optimism about the potential benefits the new complex will bring to the community, adding that it will enhance healthcare reduce shorter wait times, improved patient outcomes, and a more efficient healthcare system.
He, therefore, thanked the North-East Development commission as well as the state government for choosing his maiden to benefit from the project.
