Senator Iya Abbas, representing Adamawa central senatorial district has disbursed N90 million to constituent as part of his empowerment Programme, Small and Medium Enterprise development .
Out of the beneficiaries 600 youth, women and vulnerable received cash of N50, 000 each while 100 constituents get Point of Sale (POS) machines with N100,000 each as take-off grant for SME development.
Speaking at disbursement in Yola, Abbas said, the aim of the Programme is for the beneficiaries to be self reliant.
According to him, the beneficiaries cut across seven Local Government Areas of his constituency especially to those who voted him to represent them.
He added that, apart from taken care of needs of the electorate, his legislative performance had yielded positive result among his people.
“It is in my planned this year to build two solar mini-grids worth N500 Million in Jimeta Ultra Modern Market and Yola Main Market if completed by the state government to strengthen energy access.
“Let me inform you that I will also award scholarship to over 2,000 students of tertiary institutions each N20,000 to guarantee the future of the youth in this consistency”, he said.
Abbas further appreciated Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri and other stakeholders for their concerns and promised not to misuse the confidence reposed in him by the people of Adamawa central.
The Wife of the Governor Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by Hajiya Asabe Shaibu, encouraged the beneficiaries take advantage of the programme to succeed and be employers of labor.
Alhaji Usman Kaura, Director General of Senator’s Campaign Council, described the senator as a leader who put the interest of his people above personal interest.
He urged the people of the zone and the state in general to support Abbas for more dividends of democracy.
Cross section of the beneficiaries appreciated for the gesture and promised to utilize the opportunity given to them judiciously to be self reliant and employers labor in their respective communities.
Sen. Abbas also inaugurated his liaison office structures across 76 political wards in the constituency to serve as his representatives in order to meet the yearnings as aspirations of the electorates.
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANs) have presented an award of excellence to the Senator for his outstanding contribution towards educational development in the state
