….assures safe transit of essential supplies in Gombe
As part of its ongoing mass campaign for malaria prevention in Gombe State, the social mobilisation team has reached out to the Federal Road Safety Commission to facilitate the distribution of treated nets and malaria prevention drugs.

The team, led by the Gombe State Social Mobilisation Officer for the Malaria Elimination Prevention Programme, Malam Ahmed Buba, alongside Demand Creation Advisor Beeve Hua, and Demand Creation work stream Mr Ibrahim Sheye-Sam, met with the FRSC’s Road Sector Command to seek their assistance.

Buba requested support to ensure the smooth passage of the nets and drugs across the state, stressing the need to prevent any diversion of these crucial supplies.
He outlined that the primary goal of the campaign is to distribute treated nets to every household in Gombe State, significantly reducing the malaria burden.

Additionally, the campaign He said aims to administer malaria prevention drugs to children aged 3-59 months to protect them from the disease.
The Gombe State Outgoing Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Felix Theman, responded positively to the request.
He acknowledged the role of the commission in public health issues and assured the team of their full cooperation.
Theman emphasised that malaria prevention is a shared responsibility and pledged that the FRSC would work with the social mobilisation team to ensure that the commodities reach their intended destinations and benefit the intended recipients.
