The National Youth Service Corps, Gombe State Coordinator, Chinwe Nwachuku, on Tuesday assured 2024 batch B stream I corps members of safety as they undertake service year in the state.





Speaking shortly before the swearing in of 1,340 corps members at the temporary orientation camp Amada Akko Local Government Area of the state, Nwachuku called on the participants to take advantage of the opportunities, adding that the state is hospitable to deserving visitors.
She said, “You are therefore, implored to actively participate in all camp activities, promote a tradition of industry at work, develop common ties through shared experiences while creating avenues for long lasting relationships.
“Let me at this point reassure you that, the Government and peace loving people of Gombe State are very warm and accommodating. I also wish to assure you that the state has put in place necessary security measures to ensure your safety, welfare and general well-being during the service year.”
Nwachuku lauded Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for his unwavering support and partnership with the Scheme in the state especially towards the completion of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boltongo, Yelmatu – Deba LGA, “His Excellency, Sir, We are hopeful that, the new Camp will attend to the resultant effects associated with a temporary location of inadequate basic amenities and other challenges hindering optimal result hence, we anxiously look forward to the full completion of the Permanent Orientation Camp,” she added.
Declaring the orientation course open, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, who was represented by Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Adamu Inuwa, he congratulated them for their choice of the state, assuring them of safety.
Yahaya said, “Let me place on record that, Gombe State is very peaceful so, rest assured of your security, welfare and general well-being because, it is a top priority of government as indicated in the robust synergy between the State and security agencies, indicated in the security apparatus deployed to the Orientation Camp.”
He disclosed that efforts were on complete the permanent orientation camp urging for patience, adding “The government is not unaware of the challenges and resultant effects associated with the use of a temporary location for the Orientation course but adequate modalities have been put in place and be assured that, in no distant future, the NYSC permanent orientation camp at Boltungo will be fully completed for maximum utilisation.”
Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed, represented by Justice A Yakubu, administered an oath of allegiance on the 1,340 corps members comprising 701 males and 639 females.
