Expressing its profound sorrow and strong condemnation of the recent bomb blast that occurred, GONET’s Chairman Ibrahim Yusuf, described the incident as reminder of security challenges.

The statement partly read, “This tragic incident has resulted in the loss of precious lives, injuries to numerous individuals, and the destruction of properties, leaving many families in grief and despair.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this senseless act of violence. We stand in solidarity with those who are grieving and those whose lives have been upended by this tragedy. We also extend our thoughts and prayers to those who have sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.May they find strength and healing during this difficult time.

“This atrocity serves as a stark reminder of the persistent security challenges that our nation faces. It is imperative that the government, at all levels, takes immediate and decisive action to address these threats and safeguard the lives and properties of all Nigerians. We call on the federal, state, and local governments to prioritise the security of their citizens and to implement proactive measures to prevent such heinous incidents from occurring in the future.”

Yusuf urged all security agencies to remain vigilant and on high alert, adding “It is crucial that they intensify their efforts to detect, deter, and disrupt any plans that threaten the safety and security of our communities. Collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies must be enhanced to effectively combat these acts of terror and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

He called on Nigeria’s to remain united and resolute in the face of challenges, adding that GONET will continue to advocate for the voiceless and support initiatives that foster peace, security, and development in Nigeria.

“We call on all Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of these challenges. Together, we can build a safer and more secure nation for ourselves and future generations,” the statement added.
