The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally requested Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio to urge Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South to resign from the party and join either the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other opposition party.
In a letter signed by APC National Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje, and National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Basiru, the party also announced the removal of Senator Ali Ndume from his position as Chief Whip of the 10th Senate.
He has been replaced by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno of Borno North.
The APC’s letter was signed by Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Barrister Ajibola Bashiru, National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
The lawmaker pointedly alleged that the President has been caged by some of his aides and prevented from having access to people, including Ministers.
Wednesday’s sack of Ndume therefore followed his criticisms of President Tinubu’s government and those he called the new cabal, alleging they were more dangerous than those of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
When the motion for the removal of Senator Ndume was put to voice vote at plenary by the Senate President, members of the APC Caucus in the Senate voted in favour of his sack as Chief Whip of the Senate.
