The Deputy National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alhassan Yahya, on Sunday called on security agencies to ensure the immediate release of members.
Yahya who expressed grief and shock over the abduction of Abdulgaffar Alabelewe, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna State and Correspondent of The Nation Newspaper, along with three of his family members at Danhono 2, Millennium City, Kaduna, as well as Abdulraheem Aodo of Blueprint Newspaper alongside his wife.
The NUJ presidential aspirant in a press statement further enjoined security agencies to work round the clock and expedite actions for the release of the kidnapped Journalists.

He expressed deep shock on the sad development, adding that it is unbecoming to attack and kidnap practicing Journalists undertaking their legitimate duties, the presidential aspirant of Nigeria Union of Journalists added, “Tighten up security for the immediate release of our members. We will not relent efforts until we get them freed and reunited with their families. We pray for their immediate release.”
