Edo Congress for Democracy & Civic Rights Advocacy Benin City, has asked Chairman of All Progressives Congress Jarret Tenebe, to publicly apologise for misleading the people.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Comrade Samuel Erhaho, over Tenebe’s comments during his interview on national television.

Erhaho’s statement partly read, “On Thursday, 29th of August 2024, the Edo State acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarret Tenebe was on ARISE TV Morning Show to speak on behalf of the APC Candidate, Monday Okpebholo who has unraveled as incurably mute, chronically unlettered and so intellectually incapacitated to speak to Edo people by himself but has chosen to hide behind a coterie of proxies.

“It is perhaps noteworthy that the appearance of Jarret Tenebe came on the heels of participation on the same platform by PDP Candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo who had a very brilliant appearance.

“To fill the apparent vacuum by the other Party in the contest, Jarret Tenebe was drafted in to speak for the embattled APC Candidate.

“In a fit of desperation to defend Okpebholo’s established penchant for serially avoiding all forms of intellectual engagement and repeated failure to honour simple invitations by ARISE, Jarret Tenebe stated that Monday Okpebholo will not appear on the reputable TV Programme because Edo people were too poor to afford DStv and GOtv and as such, do not watch Arise TV Morning Show and other programmes on television.

“When reminded that Arise TV could be streamed on the Web and on YouTube, he insisted that Edo people don’t have money to subscribe to the internet to stream the programme.

“The asinine comments by Jarret Tenebe who deludes himself as “Emperor” ranks as one of the most stupid, offensive, derogatory and poorly contrived insults ever dished out to Edo People, especially on national television.”

The statement added that as a matter of historical fact that Edo State is one of the most sophisticated and enlightened states of the Federation with ancient Benin Kingdom’s civilisation actively interacting and establishing trade relations with Europe from as far back as the 14th century. “It is thus an aberration to say that the people are now so backwards that they cannot afford TV and internet subscription.

“Edo people deserve a contrite and unreserved apology from Jarret Tenebe and his party the APC for exposing Edo State to such national ridicule and indeed international embarrassment on that scale just to cover up for the intellectual ineptitude of their candidate.

“We also demand another apology for the hardship caused by the incompetence of the APC administration on a National scale, plunging the economy of our dear Country into despair with cost of living reaching an all time high. This they must do before coming to seek for our votes in September,” the statement added.
