Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has sworn in the newly elected executives with Faruk Mu’azu Gombe of GMC emerging as the newly chairman.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Mu’azu polled 96 to defeat his challenger Peter Mele, who scored 53 votes.

The election and the instant swearing-in ceremony which took place at the Nigeria Labour Congress secretariat on Wednesday also saw the emergence of Akila Emmanuel of the NTA chapel as the Vice Chairman and Shua’ibu Umar as the Secretary.
Other official elected are Hauwa Theman of Jewel News as Treasurer, Bilkisu Bibi Lakuto of GMC as the Financial Secretary, Muhammed Tukur of State Information chapel as Assistant Secretary, while Halilu Telli of GMC emerged as the Auditor.
Comrade Mu’azu in his acceptance speech, appreciated the effort of the electoral committee for conducting a free & fair election, and also the members of NUJ.
He promised to work and represent them and also carry everybody along for the betterment of the union.
