“Fellow Journalists and Esteemed Colleagues,
I stand before you today, humbled and honoured to accept the mandate you have given me to lead our noble Union, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for the trust you have placed in me. Your votes are not just a victory for me, but a victory for our collective vision of a stronger, more vibrant, and inclusive NUJ.
First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Electoral Committee for conducting a free, fair, and credible election. Your professionalism and dedication to democracy have made this moment possible.
I also extend my appreciation to the National and Zonal bodies of the NUJ for their guidance, support, and oversight throughout this electoral process. Your leadership and commitment to our Union’s growth and development are invaluable.
To my fellow contestants, I extend my hand of fellowship and collaboration. Let us put aside our differences and work together to build a Union that we can all be proud of.
To the outgoing leadership, I thank you for your service and commitment to our Union. Your legacy will not be forgotten.
As we embark on this new journey together, I pledge to work tirelessly to deliver on our 5-Point Agenda:
- Completing our State Secretariat
- Enhancing training and retraining programs
- Improving general welfare through insurance schemes, health programs, and cooperative societies
- Protecting our members from intimidation and harassment
- Fostering inclusive administration
I call on all members to join hands with me to achieve these goals. Together, we can make a difference in Gombe State and beyond.
Thank you once again for this mandate. I will not let you down.
Long live NUJ Gombe State Council!
Long live Nigeria Union of Journalists!
Long live journalism in Nigeria!”
