The National Youth Service Corps on Monday announced the commencement of 2024 batch “B” Stream II orientation course billed to commence on Wednesday for 1850 participants.
According to a press statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit, Gombe Jennifer Laha, on behalf of the state Coordinator Chinwe Nwachuku, no fewer than 1850 Prospective Corps Members are expected to undertake the exercise.
Our correspondent reports that the mandatory three-week course would be held at the temporary orientation camp, Amada, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The statement partly read, “In Gombe State, the programme is scheduled to take place at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Government Science Technical College, Amada, Akko Local Government Area and a total number of 1850 Prospective Corps Members are deployed to the state.”
The formal opening / swearing – in ceremony will hold on Friday, 30th August, 2024 at 10:00am. The Executive Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON is expected to preside over the event, while the Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed will administer the Oath of Allegiance on the Corps Members deployed to the State for national service.”
While welcoming the PCMs, the statement urged residents and host community to give the visitors the needed assistances, “Prospective Corps Members are to note that, registration commences on Wednesday, 28th to Friday, 30th August, 2024 with cut – off day, midnight Friday, 30th August, 2024. As usual, We enjoin the peace loving people of Gombe State especially those around Akko LGA and environs to accord the corps members the usual hospitality and peaceful coexistence that Gombe State is known for,” the statement added.
