Dr Asuelimen Ighodalo, the leading candidate for the Edo gubernatorial election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has praised and congratulated the Edo Queens football team an impressive performance in scaling through to the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifier.

The Edo Queens, reigning Nigerian Women’s Premier League (NPWL) Champions, defeated Omnisport Etincelle of Burkina Faso 1-0 in Abidjan to secure their spot in the semifinals. With nine points, they lead Group B and will face Inter D’abidjan, the host nation’s powerhouse, in the next round.

The statement released by the sports loving candidate’s Team Asue Media Organisation, (TAMO), reads in parts, “I congratulate the Edo Queens for their outstanding achievement

“Their dedication, resilience and hard work which is special traits of the Edo People have paid off, and we are proud to see them excel on the continental stage.”

The Edo Queens’ victory is a testament to the team’s skill and determination. As Dr. Ighodalo noted, “Their success is a reflection of the talent and potential that exist in Edo State, and we will continue to support and empower our athletes to reach greater heights.”

The winner of the semifinals will clinch a spot at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in November.

With their sights set on the top prize, the Edo Queens are poised to make history and bring glory to Edo State.
