Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, has called on political leaders and privileged individuals in the state to assist the less-privileged in their communities.

Akabe made the appeal on Thursday in Lafia, the state capital, during an empowerment programme organised by Lamino Ishaq, the Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Media.

Represented by the Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Abubakar Zanwa, the deputy governor emphasized the state government’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of the poor through various palliatives.

He commended Ishaq for his humanitarian efforts, which saw 200 less-privileged individuals from the Lafia Central Constituency receiving financial support.

Akabe encouraged other political leaders to emulate such gestures, noting that while not everyone can be reached, helping even a small number can have a significant impact.

He also advised the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and urged them to extend similar acts of kindness within their communities.

He said, “I want to thank our brother for his humanitarian gesture, this to me is very sensitive and it calls for emulation. He can’t give to everybody, but 200 is a large number that he is impacting on.“I want to use this opportunity to call on all political leaders and privileged individuals in the state to always extend help to the less-privileged residents to enable them address their challenges.

“To the beneficiaries, I call on everyone of you to make proper use of the monies, and I urge you all to always extend kind gestures to other people in your communities so that together, we will all be a happy people.”

On his part, the governor’s aide stated that 200 less-privileged persons, including women, men and youths would receive N5,000 each from him as a way of reducing their sufferings.

Ishaq also appealed to other appointees and well-to-do individuals to extend their hands of love to the less-privileged to alleviate the current hardship in the country.

“I had made a promise to our supporters in Lafia central constituency that if Governor Sule wins his second term bid in year 2023, I will come back and thank them. Today I am fulfilling my promise.

“I feel I should take out of my little earning and give to the poor people, especially now that hunger is biting hard in many homes across the country. I am happy doing this and I will do more in the future by the grace of God,” he added.
