Gombe State Coordinator Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All; Abubakar Hussaini, has urged the state government and Academic Staff Union of Universities Gombe varsity branch to come to a truce over the ongoing industrial action.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that GSU embarked on its first local strike since 21 years of existence over unpaid Earned Academic Allowance, promotion arrears and many others.
Appealing to both government and GSU-ASUU branch, in an interview with PERISCOPE NIGERIA Hussaini emphasised the need for dialogue, saying that the future of the students should be prioritised.
Hussaini said, “We want to call on Gombe State Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to come to the aid of our youths that are roaming about the streets of Gombe presently due to the strike called by Gombe State University Academic Staff Union of Universities.
“Education is the key for development once our youths are not well educated then we have so many issues and problems including political thuggery, blood abuse and so many other vices.
“I want to use this medium to call on the governor, ASUU to come together and bring lasting solution for our children, youths to go back to school. We don’t want this strike to prolonged. If it’s prolonged there will be issues which include dropout, half baked graduates. They should come together to find solutions. I’m advocating for dialogue.”
The CSACEFA chairman urged students to get busy with skills while government and ASUU sort their issues, adding “they should continue to study, they should look their senior colleagues to learn one or two skills. They should not stay idle because they say an idle mind is devil’s workshop. The vacancies are not readily available.”
