Gombe State’s Commissioner for Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, Mohammed Fawu, has received Nigeria Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene National Programme Coordinator, Engineer Abdulhamid Gwaram, and World Bank officials.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that this visit is part of the SURWASH Nigeria Midterm Review, following last week’s workshop in Abuja.

Fawu commended the World Bank officials and FPIU for their proactive approach, noting that their swift visit to Gombe will help address challenges and gaps identified during the Midterm Review.

He assured that the SPIU and implementation agencies will work to improve performance and achieve the programme’s desired results.
In his address, the SURWASH Programme Coordinator, Engineer Gwaram, emphasised the importance of the Midterm Review in identifying areas for improvement and restructuring. He sought the Ministry’s support for successful program implementation.

Also speaking Dr. Ishyaku Babayo, Special Adviser to the Gombe State Governor, welcomed the team and reaffirmed Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s commitment to the program’s success.
He highlighted the state government’s dedication to meeting its commitments with development partners.
The Gombe State Programme Coordinator, Engineer Aliyu Usman, stressed the need for teamwork among Implementing Agencies.
The Permanent Secretary, Danladi Adamu, warmly received the delegation and wished them a successful engagement with stakeholders .
Directors of the Ministry, Heads of Program Implementation Agencies and SPIU staff graced the event.
Our correspondent reports that the visit demonstrates the collaborative efforts between Gombe State, the World Bank, and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to improve water and sanitation services in the state.
