The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammed Pate, has declared that the Federal Government is taking steps to decriminalise attempted suicide in Nigeria.
He made this disclosure during a press conference held before the 2024 World Suicide Prevention Day.
Pate, represented by Permanent Secretary Daju Kachollom, emphasised the ongoing efforts to amend Section 327 of the Criminal Code, which currently makes attempted suicide a criminal offence.
