Is the APC clueless? Fuel price hike after directing traders to cut prices, by Rita Ebiuwa

Just a few days ago, the Tinubu-led administration directed traders across the country to reduce the prices of commodities in the market, presenting it as a move to ease the financial burden on Nigerians. However, in a shocking contradiction, the same federal government turned around and increased fuel prices just days later. If this isn’t a clear sign of a confused, clueless, and insensitive government, then what is?

How can the government expect traders to lower the prices of goods when fuel, a major factor in the transportation of those goods, has now become more expensive? The insensitivity of this APC government is glaring—they seem completely disconnected from the reality of the everyday struggles of common Nigerians. With fuel prices soaring, the cost of transporting goods from rural areas to urban markets will inevitably rise, leading to higher costs for both traders and consumers. So, how exactly does the government expect traders to comply with their directive to reduce prices under these conditions?

This latest fuel hike is yet another example of how the APC has brought nothing but pain and hardship to Nigerians. Instead of alleviating the struggles of the people, they continue to compound them with inconsistent and ill-thought-out policies.

This is precisely why Edo State must reject the APC in the upcoming governorship election. The people of Edo cannot afford to allow the party to bring its bad luck and disastrous governance to the state. Tinubu’s administration has shown that it is not capable of providing solutions to the problems facing Nigerians; instead, it seems to be making things worse by the day.

Edo should stay the course with the PDP, as Asue Ighodalo is poised to build on the strong economic policies already laid out by Governor Godwin Obaseki. Obaseki’s administration has made significant strides in improving Edo’s economy, despite the challenges posed by the federal government’s mismanagement.

Asue’s leadership offers continuity and a commitment to furthering the development of Edo’s economy, ensuring that the people are not subjected to the same hardship and instability that the APC has brought to the rest of the country.

The message is clear: if Edo wants to avoid the suffering that has become the hallmark of APC governance, the people must reject the party and continue with a government that prioritizes the well-being of its citizens.
