Commander Nkere noted that the driver and a passenger were arrested, and investigations are ongoing. “It may interest you to note that these goods were destined for Gombe and some of them would have been transported to Borno, but based on credible intelligence, we removed this from circulation. Only God knows the damage this would have done to our youths,” he said.
The commander praised collaborative efforts with other security agencies, stressing that “the drug war is not a one-man war, it’s not an NDLEA war, but it’s all our war. Let all hands be on deck, for us to fight this hydra-headed monster to be able to bring this war to the barest minimum in Gombe State.”
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Abdullahi Bello, commended the NDLEA’s efforts, saying, “The governor has been working with security agencies to keep Gombe safe, and the effort has been on. I think the commander of NDLEA has shown us one; all of us here are witnesses, and we have seen it. It’s a message to those in this business to know that officers of NDLEA are working and will not hesitate from doing their jobs.”
Bello added that this operation underscores the NDLEA’s commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking and protecting public health in the state.
