The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Gombe State Council, has welcomed the news on the appointment of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, as Chairman Polio Mitigation Committee.
This was contained in a press statement personally signed on Friday by the Council’s Chairman Faruk Muazu, which was obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA.
Recall that PERISCOPE NIGERIA had reported the appointment which was announced by National Economic Council chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
NEC noted that the governor is expected to leverage on his influence as Chairman Northern States Governors’ Forum to mitigate polio in affected states.
The statement partly read, “Gombe NUJ Council heartily congratulates His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on his well-deserved appointment as Chairman of the Committee on Polio Recurrence Mitigation in several states across the country.
“This appointment, announced during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, is a testament to Governor Yahaya’s exemplary leadership as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and his remarkable achievements in the health sector, particularly in vaccination efforts.
“We commend the governor’s commitment to tackling critical national issues, including polio resurgence, flooding, and malnutrition. His inclusive governance approach, which engages traditional, religious, and community leaders, has yielded positive results in Gombe State and serves as a model for other states.”
While restating the Council’s confidence in Yahaya, Muazu added”The NUJ Gombe State Council is proud of Governor Yahaya’s representation of the state at the national level and his contributions to addressing the challenges facing our nation. We wish him success in his new role and pledge our support in disseminating information about the committee’s activities to the public.”
