The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Gombe State University branch on Thursday suspended its six-week strike.
Recall that the union had proceeded on its first industrial action since the commencement of the varsity on September 11 over accumulated Earned Academic Allowance, promotion arrears owed by the state government.
According to a press statement signed by the Chairman Dr Suleiman Jauro, and Secretary Dr Mustapha Mohammad, the branch came to the conclusion after it’s Congress.
The statement partly read, “The Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities Gombe State University at its meeting held today Thursday 24th October, 2024 reviewed the update on the negotiation between the State Government Negotiation Committee and the branch.
“On the basis of the agreement signed with the State Government, the Congress unanimously resolved and hereby suspend the total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action embarked upon on 11th September, 2024 with immediate effect.”
