The Edo House of Assembly has declared the reinstatement of the last two suspended lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, following a five-month period of suspension.
On May 6, the assembly took the decision to suspend Donald Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Adeh Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) due to an alleged conspiracy to impeach the Speaker and other key officials.
Nevertheless, Bright Iyamu was reinstated in June after expressing genuine remorse, as noted by the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.
At the reconvening of the plenary session in Benin on Wednesday, Agbebaku announced that the assembly had reached a consensus to reinstate the two suspended lawmakers.
He expressed his congratulations to the newly elected state governor, Monday Okpebholo, on his success in the recent gubernatorial election.
The speaker emphasised that the governor-elect represents all citizens of Edo, not just those affiliated with the All Progressives Congress. They expressed their hope that he will not be misled by flattering individuals.
