Peter Obi, has tasked Nigeria government to prioritise education in solving current challenges as he congratulated Dr Peter O. Nwosu, a Nigerian-born academic, on his historic appointment as the 11th and first Black president of the State University of New York at Oswego, United States.

Nwosu’s inauguration, which took place on the 27th of September, marks a significant milestone as the first time an African-born individual and an immigrant will lead the 163-year-old institution.
In his congratulatory message on X, Peter Obi hailed Dr. Nwosu’s achievement as a landmark event, highlighting the significance of his appointment for Nigerians and Africans in the diaspora.
Obi described the moment as a “historic watershed,” emphasising how Dr Nwosu’s rise to this distinguished position underscores the importance of education and perseverance as keys to success in life.
Peter Obi praised Nwosu for his unwavering commitment to advancing education, noting that the newly appointed president has been a constant source of inspiration to young people.
He commended Nwosu’s efforts to encourage youths to prioritize education as a critical pathway to success and societal advancement.
Obi stressed that Nwosu’s accomplishments should serve as a reminder to prioritize education as a means of addressing the country’s challenges.
According to Obi, no nation can achieve sustainable development without investing in the education of its citizens.
However, Obi expressed hope that Nwosu’s leadership at the State University of New York at Oswego would not only contribute to the global education community but also inspire further contributions to Nigeria’s national development, particularly in the education sector.
