Save the Children on Tuesday warned that an additional 1 million children in Nigeria will suffer from acute malnutrition by April 2025 unless urgent action is taken.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that this prediction follows analysis by Cadre Harmonisé, revealing 5.4 million children are at risk, a 25 per cent increase from last year.

“In Nigeria, the crisis is reaching unprecedented levels,” said Duncan Harvey, Save the Children’s Country Director. “Urgent action is essential to combat this devastating trend of child hunger and malnutrition.”
According to a press dated Tuesday which was obtained by our correspondent conflict, insecurity, and climate change fuel the crisis, with 33 million people facing food insecurity in 2025, including 16 million children.
Aisha, a mother of six, shared her struggles saying, “Hunger has affected my daughter’s growth… We’re grateful to Save the Children for their support.”
Hajara, a 15-year-old child campaigner, pleaded, “We need leaders to step up, bring security back, and help us get support so every child can grow up safe, well-fed, and healthy.”
Save the Children urged governments to address food insecurity, stabilise prices, and protect farmers.
